Basis of the edition

The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary.

Commentary

Previous editions: Haas and Jakob-Rost 1984.

This fragment pertains to the town of Kašḫa, which is located in the vicinity of Ḫanḫana (Kryszeń 2016: 173-74). No direct relation to the great festival of Telipinu CTH 638, which also included rites performed at a ḫuwaši-stone in Kašḫa, can be established (see Cammarosano 2013: 73 and Steitler 2017: 309 for discussion).

obv. r. col. 12′: Haas and Jakob-Rost 1984 proposed to restore 12 [NA₄ZI.KINḪI.A] based on KBo 54.125+ iv 11′, but no relation between the two fragments is apparent (see Steitler 2017: 309). In view of the preceding list of festivals, a reference to the twelve monthly festivals seems more likely.
